Camps & Shelter

Temporary shelter, constructed bushcraft shelters and persistent Camp infrastructure.

Temporary tarp shelter

A carried Tarp can be pitched as emergency weather protection while travelling. The exact physical Tarp is committed to that temporary shelter and can later be recovered. This remains separate from a Tarp installed at a persistent Camp.

Bushcraft shelters

Constructed shelters use staged field work and locally gathered resources rather than requiring impossible backpack loads. Shelter condition persists, degrades and can be repaired using stockpiled worksite materials.

Persistent Camps

Camps are persistent outdoor Sites. A survivor can own multiple Camps, while active management still requires proximity. Camp systems reuse exact physical item ownership rather than duplicating equipment.

Sleeping at Camp

Camp sleep separates three things: platform (bare ground or Raised Camp Bed), bedding (Blanket, Improvised Bedroll or Sleeping Bag) and overhead protection (installed Tarp or stronger shelter). Bedding left uncovered can become wet from real rainfall; wet bedding gives a smaller sleep-quality contribution.

Raised Camp Bed Current

An established Camp can construct one persistent Raised Camp Bed from 6 Wood Scrap + 2 Nails using a reusable Hammer and 4 base AP. Materials are consumed; the Hammer is not. Existing bedding stays the same physical item and automatically benefits from the raised platform.

Campfire smoke Current

Only actively burning world fires can create remote smoke observations. Prepared fires, embers and extinguished fires do not. Visibility is decided server-side from fire intensity, distance, daylight, precipitation, wind and current weather visibility. The map/text view exposes only authorised approximate smoke location and does not leak owner or hidden Site identity.

Updated for 0.6.0.2 — Raised Camp Bed and smoke observation are implemented.
